NANVVY (Navi)

Written Coco Capitán

Coco Capitán, a Spanish artist who is constantly evolving. A collection of works featuring works from Japan's first solo exhibition "NAVY: in fifty (definitive) photographs" held at Shibuya PARCO. Completely contains 50 photographic works from the recently completed "Naïvy" series. Coco Capittan's own handwritten statement and contributions by Lena Fritz Hiroshi (U.K., modern art curator at the Ashmolean Museum).

■What is "Naïvy" (Navi)?
The series, which covers themes such as adventure, belonging, and loss of innocent, is dedicated to the imaginary world of seas where Capitan's "Lost Naïvy" (Lost Naievey) lives. The figures in Capittan's photographs have clumsy and immature human smell, but at the same time almost mythical, and their sparkling limbs in the water are similar to the figure of a mysterious marpeople (underwater man) who travels diverse sexuality. To complete this series, I went back to the dark room and spent hours and became more familiar with analog printing techniques. The creation of Naïvy, which took 10 years, is the footsteps of the growth and progress of one artist, Capitan himself.
